Whole-House Humidifiers Allow You To Lower Your Thermostat ComfortablyWinter is coming, and along with it cold weather and dry air. If you're like most people, you'll be cranking up your thermostat to stay warm and toasty. This will keep you and your loved ones comfortable during chilly temperatures, but it also can lead to dry skin and respiratory issues. Here are a few benefits that you'll likely experience if you install and use a whole-house humidifier:
  • Increased comfort: Humidifiers improve the air quality in your home. During the extremely dry months of winter, adding moisture to your indoor air can improve your comfort. It reduces the incidence of dry skin and can help keep nasal and sinus passages from drying out, which can seriously impact you or your loved ones who suffer from respiratory problems, such as asthma.

The humidity level of your home is measured with the use of a hygrometer. The air is then automatically humidified at the same time that it is warmed by your furnace in order to reach the programmed humidity level.
  • Decreased energy costs: A whole-house humidifier connects straight into your home's water system, so you will never need to change the water, as opposed to room humidifiers, which need costly distilled water to run. At most, it will cost you a few extra cents on your water bill. Additionally, adding humidity to your home makes the air feel warmer, so you actually can keep your thermostat a few degrees lower than normal. As a result, your heating bills will be lower.
